Celebration of Indian Technical and Economic Cooperation (ITEC) Day  on 14 November 2025

            The Embassy of India celebrated Indian Technical and Economic Cooperation (ITEC) Day 2025  on 14 November 2025 at Hotel Orion, Bishkek.  More than 100 people including ITEC alumni both civil and defence, from different parts of the  Kyrgyz Republic participated in the ITEC Day celebration. 

 

2.         Senior officials from Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Economy and Ministry of Culture, Information & Youth Policy of the Kyrgyz Republic and  Ministry of Defence of Kyrgyz Republic attended the event.

 

3.  H.E. Mr Nurlan Omurov Deputy  Minister of Science, Higher Education & Innovation graced the occasion as the Chief Guest. In his address, Deputy Minister expressed gratitude to the Government of India for its efforts in advancing ITEC courses and its impact in enhancing human capital in Kyrgyz Republic, fostering development and strengthening India-Kyrgyz ties.

 

4.         In his address, Ambassador  highlighted ITEC as India's flagship programme for capacity building, developmental partnership and a unique model of South-South Cooperation based on guiding values of trust, respect, equality, cooperation and knowledge sharing without conditionalities. He urged  all attendees to disseminate about ITEC programme to facilitate full utilization of the ITEC slots allotted for the Kyrgyz Republic and announced relaxation of selection norms to facilitate enhancing nominations from Kyrgyz Republic. Ambassador also announced organization of "Days of Indian Cinema" in Bishkek from 21-24 November with inaugural screening of “Dangal”  on 21 November at Kyrgyz Drama Theatre and invited everyone to enjoy classic Indian movies which are being screened with Kyrgyz/Russian sub-titles from 22-24 November 2025  at Ala too Cinema, Bishkek.

 

5.         This was followed by presentations by ITEC alumni who shared the benefits derived from professionally curated courses attended by them and the warmth and hospitality extended to them during their stay in India. The presentations were followed by a brief cultural programme including yoga demonstration, Kyrgyz, Bollywood and Bharatnatyam dance performances and singing of Hindi song by a Kyrgyz singer.

8. More than 1500 Kyrgyz civil and defence personnel have availed of the specialized capacity building training programmes under ITEC and  100 training slots are allocated for the Kyrgyz Republic every year.  ‘ITEC Day’ is celebrated every year by Indian diplomatic missions worldwide, underscoring this unique pillar of Global South cooperation.
