Celebration of 11th International Day of Yoga in the Kyrgyz Republic

            The 11th International Day of Yoga (IDY) was organized by the Embassy in the cities of Bishkek, Issyk-Kul, Jalalabad, Kant and Osh  in the Kyrgyz Republic on the theme of “Yoga for One Earth One Health”. The curtain raiser event was held on 2 May 2025, 2024 on the shores of Issyk-Kul Lake to mark the 50-day countdown to the main IDY event.  More than 100 Indian students, faculty and staff members of International Higher School of Medicine(IHSM), Cholpon-Ata participated in the Yoga session.  Rector Mr Stalbek M. Akhunbaev of the IHSM  graced the event as the Chief Guest. 

2.         Embassy organized the 25-day Countdown session at the pristine location of the Ala Archa National Park of the Bishkek in partnership with the Director of the National Park Bishkek, which was attended by more than 50 members of the Press & media representatives and Yoga instructors from various Yoga studios in Bishkek. The session was followed by Q&A session.

3.         International Day of Yoga  was organized by the Embassy in the backdrop of the iconic monument of Kurmanjan Datka in Bishkek on the Saturday morning of the  21st June, 2025, in collaboration with the Office of the Mayor of Bishkek City.  Vice Mayor of Bishkek H.E. Ms. Victoria Mozgacheva graced the occasion as Chief Guest. Ambassador Mr. Birender Singh Yadav and Vice Mayor of Bishkek City addressed the gathering of more than 400 persons including representatives of the Diplomatic community and Heads of International Organizations,  which was followed by cultural performances by Kauhar Group and Indian medical students. The event was covered by local Press & media.

 

4.         In his address, Ambassador recalled that Prime Minister of India H.E. Mr. Narendra Modi, in his UN address in 2014, suggested towards adopting an International Yoga Day, as Yoga promotes physical fitness, mental peace and a balanced lifestyle. The journey of yoga over the past 11 years reflects India’s message of unity, wellness and inner strength.

 

5.         IDY was organized by the Embassy on the evening of Sunday, 22nd June 2025 in the city of Osh in collaboration with the Office of the Mayor of Osh City and the Osh State University. Representatives from Osh Mayor Office and Vice Rector of the Osh State university graced the occasion and addressed the gathering of more than 300 yoga enthusiasts. This was followed by cultural performances of local Dance ensemble and Indian medical students. Ms Samara Karimova, the celebrity singer of the city of Osh participated and performed in the IDY celebrations. Press Service of the Department of Culture of the Osh City covered the event.

 

6.         Jalalabad International University celebrated the International Day of Yoga at its campus which was attended by more than 100 students, faculty and Kyrgyz community members. The event was graced by Professor Narbaev Mirsadyk Rakhimberdievich as Chief Guest. S. Tentishev Asian Medical Institute, Kant, Bishkek celebrated the IDY at its Campus with presence of more than 70 students including faculty, staff, Vice rectors and Advisors.  Rector Dr Selpiev T T,  inaugurated the event and participated in the Yoga session.
