The Embassy of India celebrated Indian Technical and Economic Cooperation (ITEC) Day 2024 in Bishkek on 23 November, 2024 at Hotel Orion, Bishkek. More than 110 persons including ITEC alumni from diverse fields, and representatives of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Education, Ministry of Culture and Ministry of Defence of Kyrgyz Republic and local Press & India attended the event. H.E. Mr Rasul Abazbek uulu, Deputy Minister of Education & Science of Kyrgyz Republic was the Chief Guest on the occasion.

2. The ITEC Day is celebrated on 15 September every year which is the date on which it was launched by Government of India in the year 1964. It gives unique opportunity to ITEC alumni to reconnect with each other.

3. In his welcome remarks Cd’A a.i, Shiv Mohan Singh stated that ITEC has not only fostered economic cooperation but also cultural exchange between the two countries and enabled Kyrgyz nationals to benefit from India’s expertise within the framework of South-South cooperation. Apart from providing training in the traditional areas of governance, ITEC has been expanded to include emerging areas are Artificial intelligence (AI), nano-technology, forensics, cyber security. In his address, the Hon’ble Chief Guest Mr Rasul Abazbek uulu expressed gratitude and acknowledged that the ITEC Programme has helped Kyrgyz professionals to improve their learning skills and expressed hope that cooperation between the two countries will continue to grow, expand and strengthen further. This was followed by presentations by ITEC alumni who shared their learning experience in India and how they could contribute to their own country after attending these training programmes. A short film prepared by ITEC Cell of the Ministry of External Affairs was also played. This was followed by cultural program and dinner reception.

5. More than 1500 Kyrgyz nationals and defence personnel have availed of the short term/long-term specialized capacity building training programmes so far. 100 training slots are allocated for the for Kyrgyz Republic under ITEC Programme every year.
