Celebration of 9th International Day of Yoga

 

The 9th International Day of Yoga (IDY) was held in the cities of Bishkek, Osh, Issyk-Kul, Jalalabad and Kant in the Kyrgyz Republic on the theme “Yoga for Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam” which means “The World is One Family”. The curtain raiser event took place on 11th June, 2023 on the shores of the iconic Issyk-Kul Lake where nearly 100 persons performed Yoga Asanas.

 

  1. IDY was celebrated in the backdrop of the iconic monument of Kurmanjan Datka in Bishkek on 17thJune, 2023 in collaboration with the Office of the Mayor of Bishkek City. Vice Mayor of Bishkek H.E. Ms. Victoria Mozgacheva was the Chief Guest on the occasion. Ambassador Mr. Arun K. Chatterjee and Vice Mayor of Bishkek City addressed the gathering.  Around 400 persons participated in performing Yoga Asanas including representatives of the Diplomatic Corps. The mass Yoga demonstration was followed by cultural performances.

 

  1. The main event of IDY was held on 21stJune, 2023 in Osh in collaboration with the Office of the Mayor of Osh City and the Osh State University. Ambassador Mr. Arun K. Chatterjee participated in the event in which around 300 persons performed Yoga Asanas. Vice Mayor of Osh City H.E. Mr. Nurbek Kadyrov was the Chief Guest. Rector of Osh State University Mr. Kudaiberdi Kozhobekov also graced the occasion. Ambassador, Vice Mayor of Osh City and Rector of the Osh State University addressed on this occasion. There was a cultural programme after the yoga performance.

 

  1. IDY was held on 21stJune simultaneously at the Asian Medical University in Kant and the Jalalabad State University in Jalalabad.  Around 100 people participated in the event at the respective places. The events at the both the universities were graced by the Vice Rectors of the respective universities.
