Celebration of 'ITEC Day'

          Embassy of India, Bishkek celebrated Indian Technical & Economic Cooperation (ITEC) Day on 17th February 2023. Around 200 ITEC alumni from the Kyrgyz Republic, senior officials from the Government of the Kyrgyz Republic and media representatives attended the event. The Chief Guest on the occasion was H.E. Mr.  Aibek Muhtarovich Artykbaev, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kyrgyz Republic.

  1. The ITEC Day is celebrated on 15th September every year which is the date on which Government of India launched the Technical and Economic Cooperation (ITEC) Programme in 1964. It gives unique opportunity to ITEC Alumni to reconnect with each other.
  1. In his opening remarks, Ambassador H.E. Mr. Arun Kumar Chatterjee mentioned that the focus of India’s ITEC Programme is on capacity building and resource development of partner countries including the Kyrgyz Republic. He stated that the philosophy behind this programme is that of ‘Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam’ which means the world is one family. The professionals and people from ITEC partner countries are offered unique training courses in different centers of excellence in India which empower them with not just professional skills but prepare them for an increasingly globalized world. He noted that the ITEC partnership between India and the Kyrgyz Republic has been intense during the last three decades since the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries. India now offers 100 ITEC slots to the Kyrgyz Republic every year. The current strength of ITEC Alumni in the Kyrgyz Republic is nearly 1500 comprising of both civilian and defence personnel. He expressed satisfaction that this number is increasing.
  1. Chief Guest H.E. Mr. Aibek Muhtarovich Artykbaev, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs also addressed on this occasion.
  1. Some of the ITEC Alumni shared their ITEC training experience in India and how they could contribute to their own country from what they had learnt during their training programme.
