Presentation of Credentials to H.E. Mr. Sadyr Nurgozhoevich Zhaparov, President of the Kyrgyz Republic by H.E. Mr. Arun Kumar Chatterjee, Ambasador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of India

           H.E. Mr. Arun Kumar Chatterjee presented the Letter of Credence on 29 November 2022 to His Excellency Mr. Sadyr Zhaparov, President of the Kyrgyz Republic, by which Her Excellency Ms. Droupadi Murmu, President of the Republic of India, has appointed him as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of India to the Kyrgyz Republic.

2. India’s traditional relations with the Kyrgyz Republic are marked by warmth and friendship and have assumed dynamism in recent years with mutual understanding and support from the leadership of both countries. Vibrant people-to-people ties have provided the foundation for India-Kyrgyz strategic partnership.

3. In talks with the President, he conveyed greetings of the President and the people of India. He also thanked the President for receiving him. Both sides reviewed cooperation on various facets of India-Kyrgyz strategic partnership. They also discussed steps taken to implement decisions taken during the First India-Central Asia virtual summit held on 27 January 2022, which was held at the initiative of the Prime Minister of India, Mr. Narendra Modi, in which President H.E. Mr. Sadyr Zhaparov also participated. They had a productive discussion on further intensifying cooperation in different spheres, such as trade & investment and culture, given the deep cultural and civilizational connect between India and the Kyrgyz Republic. Both sides discussed matters pertaining to India-Kyrgyz Republic bilateral relations and expressed their intent to enhance cooperation and work closely to strengthen the bilateral relationship.

4. India-Kyrgyz Republic bilateral trade is growing. During the current year, till September, the bilateral trade has touched US$ 93.38 million. India’s exports to the Kyrgyz Republic is US$ 84.32 million while the imports is US$ 9.06 million. The 10th session of India-Kyrgyz Republic Inter-Governmental Commission on Trade, Economic, Scientific and Technical Cooperation was held in virtual format on 3rd November 2022, identified the steps to be taken on how to further boost the trade between India and the Kyrgyz Republic.
