(1 February, 2024; 6 PM)

ADDRESS BY AMBASSADOR

Dy. Minister of Culture, Information, Sports and Youth Policy H.E. Mr. Chyngyz Esengul uulu,

Ladies and Gentlemen,

Good Evening!

It gives me great pleasure to welcome all of you to this cultural evening of Indian dance by the team led by Dr. Rekha Mehra and members of her Urvashi Dance Music Art and Cultural Society from India. Their visit to the Kyrgyz Republic is taking place on the occasion of the 75th Republic Day celebrations of India.

2.   Relations between India and the Kyrgyz Republic are historical and civilizational. Recognizing the importance of culture in the enhancement of knowledge and understanding between the people of both our nations, India and the Kyrgyz Republic signed a Cultural Exchange Programme in June 2022. The visit by the troupe led by Dr. Mehra under the Cultural Exchange Programme will further strengthen the excellent people-to-people contact and the cultural connect between us.

3.   We are extremely grateful to the Ministry of Culture, Information, Sports & Youth Policy of the Kyrgyz Republic for supporting and hosting the visit of this Indian Dance Group and for arranging their performances at the iconic National Philharmonic Hall in Bishkek today and at the National Drama Theatre in Osh on 3rd February. Above all, access has been provided free to all the enthusiasts and admirers of Indian dance and music for both these events.

4.   We are delighted that Dr. Rekha Mehra is leading the dancing troupe from India. She is an eminent Kathak exponent and is also the Founder Director of the Urvashi Dance Music Art and Cultural Society. She has extensively travelled and performed both in India and in other countries. Her troupe is coming from Russia where they gave successful performances in Moscow and other cities last week. We are also grateful to the Indian Council for Cultural Relations for organizing this visit to the Kyrgyz Republic. The performance by Dr. Mehra and her team will give you an opportunity to see India’s enduring and vibrant culture and the incredible diversity of the country.

5.   We are happy that, like last year, Kyrgyz dance troupes and artisans will be taking part in the Surajkund International Crafts Fair in India from tomorrow. We are confident that this cooperation between our two countries would continue in the years ahead through greater exchanges of troupes under the Cultural Exchange Programme.

Ladies and Gentlemen,

6.   I would like to thank all of you for joining us tonight in such large numbers for celebrating this evening of Indian Dance and for making it a grand success. Special thanks are due to my colleagues in the Embassy for their efforts in preparing for this programme. I wish you all a very enjoyable and a memorable evening.

Thank you once again! Чоң рахмат! Спасибо большое!
