Gita Mahotsav Celebrations at Embassy of India, Bishkek on Friday, 7 November 2025

Gita Mahotsav Celebrations at Embassy of India, Bishkek on Friday, 7 November 2025 :

Esteemed Guests, Members of the Indian Diaspora, Friends from the Kyrgyz Republic, Students, Ladies and Gentlemen

Namaste and a heartfelt welcome to the Embassy of India in Bishkek for the Gita Mahotsav 2025,  a celebration of the timeless wisdom of the *Srimad Bhagavad Gita. It is a privilege to gather with you today, in collaboration with the Indian Council for Cultural Relations and the Government of Haryana, to honor this sacred text that continues to inspire millions across the globe.

The Bhagavad Gita spoken by Lord Krishna to Arjuna on the battlefield of Kurukshetra, is not merely a scripture but a universal guide to living with purpose, courage, and compassion. Geeta Saar is given in one page which describes the way we live our lives with its key essence of Dharma, karma and knowledge. Its teachings on dharma (duty), karma (action), and bhakti (devotion) transcend time, culture, and borders, offering solutions to life’s challenges—whether personal, professional, or societal. In a world grappling with uncertainty, the Gita’s call to selfless action and inner peace resonates deeply, embodying India’s ethos of Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam—the world is one family.

Tonight’s celebration reflects this spirit. Through the recitation of Gita shlokas, we connect with its divine vibrations. The talk on its teachings will illuminate its relevance to modern life.

This event also strengthens the cultural bonds between India and the Kyrgyz Republic. Kyrgyzstan’s rich heritage of tolerance and coexistence aligns beautifully with the Gita’s message of unity. By hosting Gita Mahotsav here, we honor our shared values and deepen the friendship between our nations, nurtured through initiatives like this and the legacy of Mahatma Gandhi, whose name graces the street where we stand. The Kyrgyz epic "Manas" is comparable to the Indian epic "Mahabharata" (of which the Bhagavad Gita is a part) in terms of cultural importance. Both texts emphasize the importance of moral values, duty (Dharma in the Gita) and the struggle between good and evil.

I extend my gratitude to all participants—our students, and the Indian diaspora—for making this evening vibrant. I especially thank our Kyrgyz friends for embracing this celebration, reflecting the warmth of our bilateral ties. Let us carry forward the Gita’s wisdom to foster peace, resilience, and mutual understanding in our communities.

Let’s enjoy and participate wholeheartedly in the Gita Mahatosav event.

Thank you!
