Distinguished Guests, Ladies & Gentlemen,
Good afternoon everyone. I thank all of you for taking time out from your busy schedule and gracing us with your presence in an effort of the Embassy towards promoting Tourism to India.
2. India is a country with beautiful landscapes, flora and fauna along with rich cultural heritage. India's amazing diversity offers you everything you could ever want in a visit. From the moment you set foot in India, to be greeted by a graceful Namaste, a gesture that denotes both welcome and respect, you are on the way to one of the most rewarding experiences of your life. The World Travel and Tourism Council has identified India as one of the world's foremost tourist growth centres in the coming decade. The sector is predicted to grow at an average annual rate of 7.5 per cent by 2025 (7.2 per cent of GDP) and is expected to achieve the fastest growth of economic activities via tourism sector.
3. The rich history as well as cultural and geographical diversity of India make it the country of the most popular tourist destinations among foreign travellers. It offers various forms of tourism, including cultural, heritage, cruise, nature, educational, business, sports, rural, medical, spiritual and eco-tourism. The Ministry of Tourism designs national policies for the development and promotion of tourism. Concerted efforts are being made to promote niche tourism products such as rural, cruise, medical and eco-tourism. The Ministry of Tourism maintains the Incredible India campaign focused on promoting tourism in India. For promoting tourism and ensuring that the country is seen, felt, and experienced as warm, welcoming, safe, secure and easy to explore by people, India focuses on its traditional values of “Atithi Devo Bhava – Guest is God”. Atithidevo Bhava translated as “A guest is akin to God, embodies the traditional Indian Hindu-Buddhist philosophy of treating guests with the reference accorded to deities. It aims to ensure that tourists feel safe, welcomed, and respected throughout their stay in India.
4. Bounded by the majestic Himalayan ranges in the north and edged by a spectacular coastline surrounded by three seas, India is a vivid kaleidoscope of landscapes, magnificent historical sites and royal cities, golden beaches, misty mountain retreats, colourful people, rich cultures and festivities. At any part of the year India can offer you a dazzling array of destinations and experiences. In summer, when the subcontinent is sizzling, there are spectacular retreats amidst the heady beauty of the Himalayas or the lush green heights of the Western Ghats with cool trekking trails, tall peaks to conquer stretches of white water for the adventure seekers. In the cool of an Indian winter, cities come alive with cultural feasts of music and dance. The balmy weather is an ideal time for you to visit India hopping through romantic cities studded with ancient and medieval forts and palaces. The sun-drenched beaches are inviting and wildlife sanctuaries with their abundance of flora and fauna are abuzz with the nurture of the young.
5. As you travel across the length and breadth of this vast nation, you can see history unfold. The glorious traditions, culture and richness of India had made this sub-continent prime choice of destination for explorers down the ages. India, where culture echoes, tradition speaks, beauty enthralls, and diversity delights. The astounding diversity of religions, cultures, and languages of India is unique and unparalleled. The country offers a plethora of spiritual destinations which should not be missed by anybody who is looking for an authentic Indian experience. From opulent temples and mosques to stunning churches, serene monasteries, and magnificent Gurudwaras, India is truly a home to holiness. Thousands of years ago, a large part of the life of Gautam Buddha was spent in this area. The Buddha attained enlightenment in Bodh Gaya , travelled widely in Uttar Pradesh, spread his message and towards the end, attained mahaparinirvan in this region.
6. India’s vast coastline and islands provides ample opportunities for fun packed tourism. Kerala, Goa, Andaman & Nicobar Islands, Lakshadweep Islands attract tourists in large numbers all around the year. India has a rich forest cover which has some beautiful and exotic species of wildlife – some of which are even endangered and very rare. This has boosted wildlife tourism in India. Tourists prefer to go for trekking to places like Ladakh, Sikkim, and Himalaya for adventure tourism. Himachal Pradesh and Jammu and Kashmir are also popular destinations for the skiing as well as other snow related activities. Tourists from all over the world have been travelling to India to avail themselves of cost-effective but superior quality healthcare in terms of surgical procedures and general medical attention. There are several medical institutes in the country that cater to foreign patients and impart top-quality healthcare at a fraction of what it would have cost in developed nations such as USA and UK. Kyrgyz nationals have also been travelling to India for medical treatment. E-Visa facility has also been extended to the Kyrgyz nationals to visit India. 892 Medical visas were issued to Kyrgyz nationals by the Embassy in 2024.
7. The tourism industry in India is on a path of rapid growth due to government promotion, improved infrastructure, affordability and increasing disposable income. The potential for further growth in this sector is immense, and India has a lot to offer to tourists from around the world. I thank all of you for being a part of our humble attempt to encourage people from Kyrgyzstan to visit India. I hope that your next visit will be to explore and experience the mesmerizing beauty and richness of incredible India.
