CELEBRATION OF 'ITEC DAY'

          Embassy of India, Bishkek, celebrated the Indian Technical & Economic Cooperation (ITEC) Day on 02 November, 2023. Senior Government Officials, ITEC Alumni and Media Representatives from the Kyrgyz Republic participated in the event. The Chief Guest on the occasion was H.E. Mr. Maksat Tentimishov, Director of the Fourth Political Department, Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Kyrgyz Republic.

 

  1. In his welcome address, Ambassador Mr. Arun Kumar Chatterjee mentioned that “ITEC” – the flagship capacity building programme of the Government of India – has entered into its 60th year. He noted that development cooperation is an important element of the foreign policy of India. Apart from providing capacity building training programmes in the traditional areas of governance, ITEC has been expanded to include emerging areas like Artificial Intelligence (AI), nano-technology, forensics and cyber security. He observed that the ITEC partnership between India and the Kyrgyz Republic is intense and has been continuing for more than thirty years with focus being given to institutionalized capacity building of civil servants and defence personnel. The current strength of ITEC Alumni in the Kyrgyz Republic is more than 1600 comprising of both Civilian and Defence Personnel and the number continues to grow.

 

  1. Chief Guest H.E. Mr. Maksat Tentimishov, Director of the Fourth Political Department, Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Kyrgyz Republic, addressed on this occasion.

 

  1. Some of the ITEC Alumni shared their rich experiences of ITEC training and stay in India. They acknowledged the manifold gains in their capacity enhancement and the resultant productive contribution that they have been able to make in their own country.
